UIF Registration

The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) provides financial support to employees in the event of unemployment, maternity, adoption, or illness leave. All companies employing staff must register with the Department of Labour for UIF.

To register for UIF, the following documents and information are required:

• Company or Close Corporation (CC) registration documents

• Certified ID copies of all members or directors

• Nature of the business and activities conducted

• PAYE number (if already registered)

• ID copies of all employees

• Gross salary details of each employee

• Employment commencement date for each employee

The UIF registration process usually takes 10–15 working days. However, processing times may be extended if the Department of Labour experiences high volumes of applications.

Once registration is successfully completed, you will receive a UIF reference number as proof of registration.
